Keep your own house straight
So, Flyers coach Ken Hitchcock is upset that the Forum showed replays of Donald Brashear’s hit on Tim Taylor late in the game last night.
“”I don’t want to downcast anything here but something happened on the video screen today that’s very upsetting,” Flyers coach Ken Hitchcock said. “I think that’s unfair, unfair for the National Hockey League. I don’t care if it’s in Tampa Bay or Philadelphia - you can’t incite the fans like that. That’s unfair.
It’s unfair to the players. It’s a very dangerous situation. It should not happen. The replays are there to replay, not to question referees’ calls or incite people. It’s ridiculous. It should not happen…
“The people were angry,” Hitchcock said. “The stuff coming behind our bench was ridiculous, and they were mad, and they were mad because of what they saw on the screen. It was part of the game, and then you just keep replaying it, and it’s ridiculous. If that was in Philadelphia, it would be a mess. It would be a huge mess.”
Ken Hitchcock is correct. If that was in Philly, it would be a mess. You see, in Philly, they use personal tragedy to upset and distract opposing team players. They cheer injured players. They Boo Santa Claus. They curse at children. They act like children. In Philadelphia, they riot after winning championships (not sure, been too long). They riot at cancelled concerts. And of course their teams haven’t had a championship since their fans all had mullets (they still do?) uh.. since 1983. “NOT TRUE” says PhillyFan, We got this horse…
Anyway, this is Tampa. The citizens and fans in Tampa are more civil, more mature than those from Philly. We won’t be incited. Instead, Hitchcock needs to be concerned how Tortorella’s team will respond Thursday. Or why the Flyers could not score during 3 Five-onThree’s. Or who is going to play defense. No need to worry about responsible Tampa fans.
A friend once told me that Philadelphia fans do have a lot of class. Too bad it’s all very low.
