You move me
Three or four years ago, I had somehow heard about a new craze: weblogs. Being the Tampa homer that I am, I first googled for Tampa area blogs. Lo, and behold, I found Ain’t too Proud to Blog, written by someone named Robyn (and hubby Todd) somewhere around North Tampa. “Cool” I thought. They wrote about all kinds of stuff; everyday life, charitable endeavors, blogging-related stuff, topical news, etc. And they were football fans too, discussing the Buccaneers, OU Boomer Sooners, and the best Buccaneer ever: Lee Roy Selmon, among others. As far as I know, ATPTB was the first local blog, and therefore a pioneer in my eyes.
Some time later, Robyn acquired the domain name TampaTantrum. A great name proudly proclaiming her whereabouts, (alas, she still insisted on pimping OU). Because I was new to the world of blogs back then, I was a little intimidated, and didn’t post many comments. But I was very entertained by the varied subjects of her posts, I enjoyed the fun, light, opinionated atmosphere, and I was intrigued by the entire blogging concept. Anyway, as time went on, keeping up with TampaTantrum became something of a chore for her, plus they were expecting a new family member, and the site shut down. It has now reformed (somewhat) as a photo-based blog: Shutterblog. I have never met Robyn and her family, but I want to thank her for inspiring me to do this weblog thingy (although it is much later) and acknowledging the real seed that started Sticks of Fire. So, to you readers, go take a look at Tampa-based Shutterblog, hire Connect the Dots, plan your wedding through Wholly Matrimony and finally, (Coming in October!) prepare yourself for one of the most unique, fun, and successful charity fundraisers, Boobie-Thon 2004.
To Robyn: Thanks a bunch!!! and uh… Oh yeah… enough with Oklahoma already.
