it is history
I used to shoot pool a lot. I was pretty good at it, too. My favorite spot is Baker’s Billiards Academy, on the corner of Tampa St. and 7th Av., just north of downtown. Opened in 1942, Baker’s is the oldest pool hall in Florida, and they claim to be the oldest continual use billiard parlor in the United States. Anyway, right across the street there was a billiards table factory and store. Robertson’s is where you’d go to buy a good pool table, lights, pool cues, even bar stools. This morning a fire broke out at Robertson’s Billiard Supply, and likely destroyed the building. You could see the smoke for miles around. The Tampa Fire Department responded quickly, and surrounding buildings were not affected, but it looks as if Robertson’s is down for a while at least. Bummer.
