not in a hurry
On Monday, the HARTline board agreed to pursue $2 million to be used on an extension for the streetcar. Board member Linda Saul-Sena feels that the “expansion could lead to better commuter services.” As I’ve mentioned before, the streetcar as it exists now is not, and will never be a viable commuter option. Of course I think we should go after the money for HARTline, just don’t waste it on this plaything. Tampa Rail supports the extension – any extension of any rail, really. Either way, you may want to let the HARTline board members know how you feel.
Storms torrents: “It will be a cold day in hell before this commissioner will give any money to [HARTline] whatsoever.”

They ok’d a proposal to spend $200,000 to determine the cost of extending the streetcar up Franklin St. to Whiting. A year and a half ago, it was thought to have cost about $7million. Best of luck getting the details, because the Tribune takes stories offline after a while, so the original article is nowhere to be found. [...]
