smashing revelation

As part of his comedic routine, Gallagher hit an audience member while doing a show in Las Vegas. Gallagher is famous for smashing watermelons and various other items with a sledgehammer. It’s unclear if he used the sledgehammer on the patron, but he is being investigated for misdemeanor battery.

Since he’s in the news, I thought now might be a good time to mention that the comedian is one of us. Although his offices are now in West Palm Beach, Leo Gallagher grew up in Tampa, attending Manhattan Elementary, Madison Jr. High, Oak Grove Jr. High, and Hillsborough High School. He studied to be a chemical engineer at USF until 1969. Find out more about Gallagher in Tampa on Tedd Webb’s pages.

Ah, onstage watermelon-smashing never goes out of style, does it?

Wait a minute — sure it does.

Doesn’t Gallagher have a brother or cousin who also does the stand-up thing?

  2. Brett Says:

Yeah, his brother calls himself Gallagher II, and he just does the same act his brother does. No, really.

  3. tommy Says:

I did not know about the brother. As corny as smashing fruit is, at least it was unique.
