A general social survey of the greater weblog community (translation: blogosphere) is being conducted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Their stated goal is to help understand the way weblogs are affecting the way we communicate with each other. They are asking information about demographics, communication behaviors, experience with weblogs and other technology, and the meaning of various types of social links within the blogosphere.
The survey takes about 15 minutes to complete, and they want anyone with a weblog to participate.
Everyone who maintains a weblog is welcome (and encouraged) to take the survey. Results for both sample pools (invited and self-added) will be collected and analyzed. And you can check out the results thus far, but only if you have already taken the survey.
By the way, Sticks of Fire was one of the randomly selected weblogs to act as a representative sample of the greater weblog community. Anyway, if you have a few minutes, go take the survey, then check out the results. There are a few surprises!
