The Tribune ran a story about a Tampa icon, the Cuban Sandwich. The local newspapers like to do that now and again.
The origins of the Cuban Sandwich in America is thought to be right here in Ybor City. The oldest Cuban Sandwich Shop opened in Ybor City in 1929. The Silver Ring Café is still open in downtown Tampa. Go visit them today at 206 N. Morgan St.
Or stop by the oldest Cuban Bread bakery, La Segunda Central Bakery, and make your own sandwich at home. Eat it there or enjoy it while listening to great local band Cuban Sandwich Crisis.
Time for lunch!
