jobsite works for you, part i
introduction
Jobsite Theater is a local non-profit theater company that places an emphasis on local residents. They hire, teach, and support local talent. They offer professional theater comprised of mostly natives. And they encourage local citizens to make a real difference in their community.
Sticks of Fire recently spoke to Jobsite’s Chairman, David Jenkins about the theater group’s beginnings and the future direction of the company. It’s a fascinating look at a valuable Tampa arts institution, and the story will be told here in installments to coincide with the running of their latest production. For now, we’ll start with information about the upcoming show.
The upcoming show is called March of the Kitefliers. The romantic comedy was written by two local playwrights, Shawn Paonessa and Neil Gobioff, and is the last production of the season for Jobsite. It opens Friday at the Shimberg Playhouse at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, and runs through August 21.
You missed your chance at two free tickets, but you can still get great seats for only $16.50 each. Show times are 8pm Fridays and Saturdays and 4pm on Sundays. There is a special $10/ticket preview performance tomorrow, Thu., Aug. 4 at 8pm. Pick your tickets up at The Center Ticket Office, call 813.229.STAR or get them online. Just so you know, the show contains adult language.
