To his credit, he turned himself in about an hour and a half ago. I guess it’s better than finding Doc dead somewhere.

God did Doc come crashing down quickly… He’s publicly commented that he contemplated suicide before.
Doctor K needs help – someone from the baseball world needs to reach out to him to get his head out of the retirement bullshit it’s invested in. I mean, they’ve given Darryl Strawberry how many chances? How many other criminals and crooks have played the game and been embraced after their problems?
I know I’m sick of stuff like this from athletes and I’m making an exception because I grew up a Mets fan… Call me a hypocrit but someone, throw Doc a line!

I’m with you John. I was thinking about this today and I don’t know what it is that makes Gooden a more sympathetic figure than someone like Strawberry who strikes me as just a common criminal, maybe just greater familiarity on my part. As a kid growing up in Tampa, Dwight Gooden was a legend
