blogger on Poydras St.
Sticks reader Charles let me know of a great blog he found. The Interdictor is blogging from the middle of New Orleans, while watching his city get destroyed. Some highlights (times are in New Orleans):
Sunday, August 28: We’re on the 10th and 11th floor of a corporate high rise on Poydras Ave., right near St. Charles. We have generators and tons of food and water. It is 5 of us total. I am not sure how the internet connection will be affected. I have a camera and my gun.
Monday, 29 Aug 9:44am It’s definitely a mess outside, but as long as no flooding occurs, the city should be fine. There’s really nothing to say… imagine a low rumbling turbine engine for several hours, lots of wind and debris, and me taking pictures and video.
Tuesday, 30 Aug 8:54am I do not want to be an alarmist, but people who have the means to leave the greater New Orleans area need to do so. The infrastructure required to maintain a city is down
Wednesday, 31 Aug 9:35am We’re seriously considering trying to restore some order to this city since the government has totally given up (and probably couldn’t do anything anyway). The police have been looting according to reports…
Wednesday, 31 Aug 4:30pm We have an inside source in the NOPD who says that command and control is in chaos. He reports that command lapses more than 24 hours between check-ins, and that most of the force are “like deer in the headlights.” NOPD already had a reputation for corruption, but I am telling you now that the people we’ve been talking to say they are not recognizing the NOPD as a legitimate authority anymore
Thursday 1 Sep 12:11am I am not trying to be an alarmist, but until we get a military presence of signicance in the city, the roving gangs of thugs own the streets.
Thursday 1 Sep 10:12am There is a mass exodus for the Mississippi River Bridges (Crescent City Connection) from the CBD. We are not sure what’s going on, but we are assuming until we hear differently that people are fleeing the city.
Today, 12:19pm This convoy coming down the street is loaded with supplies. I see MREs and water and I assume ice… Hope is on the way for the people at the Convention Center. Finally.
Fascinating stuff.

Just wanted to get the word out that 98ROCK has rescheduled their annual Pay For Play weekend for now, and instead of the childrens home, it is benifitting the Red Cross for Hurricane victims THIS WEEKEND. So call WXTB 98ROCK and pledge money for a song, aqny song (within reason these days- thanks to fcc regs— it used to be LITERALLY any song) I know I will!
