Business blog consultant Josh Hallett lets us know about the Death of a Blog.
If you are a public agency and you launch a blog which immediately achieves success with a high number of daily readers that leave scores of comments to discuss the posts and for the first time truly opens a public discussion on a topic what do you do next?
Shut down the blog of course!
In a nutshell, one particular public figure (read the transcript) within the agency couldn’t handle hearing the negative comments directed at him. Like many elected and other public officials, those that desire the position can often not handle a basic part of the job - criticism. Wuss.

As an aside, it is interesting to remind that Tampa City’s website once had a comments section. One day that disappeared for no apparent reason. The “blog” concept wasn’t entirely mainstream then, but there were a lot of critical posts to be found.
