Update 12:10: Included link to more artist renderings…
In today’s St. Pete Times, they unveil a possible new downtown Tampa residential high rise called Tampa Towers: Condo proposal tops Trump Tower. I wonder where on earth did they learn of that…
Wait - there it is…
News of [the] project appeared Friday evening on a Tampa blog site. Amon said he didn’t plan on announcing Tampa Towers soon and put up the Web site to attract investors. The project Web site and Tampa Towers information on the company site were pulled down after Amon talked with a St. Petersburg Times reporter Monday afternoon.
emphasis is mine (as is the “tampa blog site“)
No name, no link, just “a tampa blog site.” It’s something, I guess.
Since they took down the sites, here are some more artist renderings of the Tampa Towers at sky scraper page, and discussion of Tampa Towers on skyscrapercity forums.

You should e-mail the writer and let them know the name of the ‘Tampa blog site’

Yowsie! I totally mis-read that post, too. I thought it was the Trump Towers (funny, I thought at the time, how you marveled over having pictures). I didn’t read closely enough. Congratulations! A real news break exclusive almost beats any award in terms of purpose!

The disappointing “tampa blog site” credit aside, this just proves the Times is better - their choice of sources is impeccable.

If they had pulled this from AP or Reuters or the Post they would have cited the source. Just because you are not official media they feel they don’t have to.

It’s not copying. IT’s “sourcing”.

The official source of this was Skyscrapercity.com. I passed it on to Tommy and the Times picked it up…
Hell, wouldn’t I be considered a source? Skyscrapercity.com is the primary source and that didn’t get mention. just saying, though…. I do believe the Times should have said Sticks by name, as they have done that for web sites in other articles before.

[...] We first mentioned the Tampa Towers last Friday, and the St. Pete Times picked up on the story Tuesday. TBO read about it in the Times on Tuesday, but got more in the Trib Wednesday. In the process, we outed the developer, who did not want his site publicized. Sorry ‘bout that! [...]
