end of the year gimmicks

OK, so all the different publications and websites are doing a best-of 2005 sort of gimmick. I’m not one to start copying other people, but I do like a gimmick now and again.

But I”m not going to subject you good people to a rehashing of Sticks Best Posts of 2005, after all, every single word here is alwasy prefect. Nope – I want more participation, so you tell me – what is the best thing that happened to YOU in 2005. Mundane or exciting, if you ate a great sandwich, or threw one at your brother, I want to know about it. Feel free to send it in an email anonymously or leave a comment. There is no limits, no rules, no problems. Emailed stories will be posted this week, and the best story gets a free Sticks of Fire T-shirt.

Great idea! I’ll start, of course, because the best thing to happen to me in 2005 is that I became a publicity w*ore. Okay, not the best thing, but definitely true. I saw my name in print for the first time (my novel and my travel articles, not to mention my website and blog) and now I’m like an addict awaiting my next fix. In 2004, I was nobody. In 2005, I’m still nobody but I’m nobody with my pic in the paper. Look out Oprah show!

This is my favorite, just because she sounds pissed and a bit tipsy!

I would have to say getting the cajones to start my own blog and really speak what’s on my mind, and share my sense of humor. I have truly enjoyed the ability to share thoughts and ideas, and to post pics that would make a nun slap your hand with a barbed-wire ruler. Thanks to all the people who have commented, copied, complained, cajoled, and laughed.

I actually made a best of list! WOW Tommy you better watch out, I may take your spotlight away!

Yes, I was tipsy but not so pissed. I only confirmed that night that I’m not cut out for the rich side of town!

One of the best things that happened to Tampa Bay Bloggers was me talking you into Sticksoffire.com :)

Best thing that happened to me prsonally in 2005 is tough to say. Boltsmag was a success thanks to the Lockout and lack of other hockey blogs posting during that mess, I got you a milestone in Tampa Bay Media by tipping you off to certain TB projects… That was pretty good….

Actually it was probably getting my little girl, Madeline (she’s a puppy, folks. John don’t have kids)… She’s the sweetest, most playful and intellegent dog I’ve ever had before and I wouldn’t trade her in for anything else.
