a tree fell, I swear
Ronda’s buddy Terry Kemple called a news conference to gain support for restricting marraige two one man and one woman. At no time did he acknowledge that nobody showed up.
I’m still not sure how you can justify denying two dudes (or chicks) the right to enter into a legal contract with each other based on their gender.
I’m also unsure if any state or federal Amendment restricting me from anything is good, since it really didn’t work out so well last time.

Didn’t you know, Edit. two people can’t legally be in lov eiwth each other unless the Government OK’s it?
I believe this is a waste of time formt eh governent whenever they bring this stuff up. It’sa wedge issue that distracts people from the real problems.

You bring up a good point about restrictive amendments. The reason they don’t work is because the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are designed by nature to allow us to do things and define the things that we the people CAN do, and restrict the government, not vice versa. That is why it is the right to free speech, the right to bear arms, and protection from illegal search by the government.
I think that the reason why many people are against gay marriage is because of what they interpret marriage to be. As an atheist, marriage has nothing to do with god or church or anything, it is simply a legal contract recognized by the state. They associate the church wedding with the legal state of getting married and that is not how it works. I could get married on a compost heap and it would be just as legal as if it were in a church.

When you dig a little deeper most people who oppose gay marriage really have trouble with the idea of gay sex. Seems to me the easiest way to keep gays from having sex is to let them get married. (Stolen directly from an Episcopal theologian, whose name I wish I could remember so I could give him credit.)

“Seems to me the easiest way to keep gays from having sex is to let them get married.”
damn I had to read that a couple of times before I got it but it is pretty funny!

That’s HILARIOUS
But sadly, the funnier thing that was said was that “most people who oppose gay marriage really have trouble with the idea of gay sex.”
Doesn’t that make them closet homosexuals to begin with? I mean, they’re thinking of fornification between two people of the same gender… They might be grossed out by it but why the hell are they thinking about it in the first place?! It’s not natural! I mean, I am straight and I have no problem with gay marriage. I also don’t think of grown men having relations together on a regular basis. I don’t actively look for that stuff so I can be repelled by it either.

HATE and FEAR rooted in religion motivate the ignorant who refuse to think for themselves.

[...] Well it looks like young people aren’t the only ones who don’t care too much about it. A recent “rally” here in Tampa drew zero support. No telling if the old gym guys were there. [...]

I don’t need laws to keep my from leaving my wife and marrying another man. But then, I’m not a Republican…
