February 11, 1916 – Leaders from the city of Mobile, Alabama, Gulfport, Mississippi and Tampa meet at Tampa’s City Hall to discuss how to better market the Gulf Coast as the “American Riviera” to combat the coalition of cities successfully advertising Southern California.
