cookie cutter candidates

Tommy and myself have been talking politics a good bit lately in this election year. Mostly about local candidates and the lack of web presence. I went to Florida’s Division of Elections web site to look up local candidates for State House that could be involved in a possible story for the Sticks

Over the course of my search, I came across three sites that looked similar but paid no heed to them… It was when I went back to them and saw all three candidates websites were now not functioning and had the exact same “Coming soon” messages with similar logos and similar backgrounds that I thought something was up.

All three of them… All being run by The Mallard Group consulting firm.

You know, it’s bad that a good number of local candidates can’t have a web presense. It’s even worse, however, when local candidates have a cookie-cutter-design supplied by the same political consultant that they are using as their web pages.

Wow that duck sound on the Mallard Group web site is annoying. Why would anybody think that was a good idea. Wait, I think I just answered my own question.

I wonder if the lack of attention to websites is a money issue or if they feel that the only people to really vote in county election are the blue hair and denture crowd?

Cookie cutter websites. Cookie cutter candidates. Real leadership? Not this year.

That’s exactly my take on it, Smitty…. Where is the originality? It looks like they are running as Political Lemmings, let alone as serious candidates who want to bring about change.
