tampa bay among best for small business
The Tampa Bay Business Journal reports that the Tampa-St. Pete metro area ranks 15th for small business. Miami came out on top, Orlando is number three, and Jacksonville is number 9. Memphis ended up at the bottom of the list of 50 metro areas.
Another story says Tampa Bay is the most unlikely area to get another professional sports team, and really do not really have the economic capacity to support the ones we do have.

Well, since the only remaining major sports franchise would be the NBA, and the Magic is right down the road… not sure you need a study to figure out that TB is stuck with the Bucs, Rays and Bolts. (Everyone hankering for a National Lacrosse League team, sorry!)
Take such spreadsheet-massaging with a grain of salt. It doesn’t do much to encourage or discourage team and league movement/expansion. As long as a barn with land is available, and government-guaranteed money is right, the major pros would move to Nome, Alaska. (Slight exaggeration, but only slight.)

And not the dearly-departed Mutiny? Speaks volumes for the MLS…
