found gasparilla photos
Gasparilla Day - 1966 - Tampa, Florida, originally uploaded by avaloncm (Mike).
Mike found a couple of old photos at an estate sale. This 
one is of the Publix float at the Gasparilla Day Parade in 1966.
Clicking the image will bring you to a larger shot on flickr. You will notice that this shot was taken from the old state fairgrounds. In the left background you can clearly see the minarets from University of Tampa.
Mike emailed me and asked if anyone had an image of the area now - I immediately thought of Tim? But if anyone knows of current shots of the area online somewhere, leave a comment witha a link.

Hey. My History Class is doing a project on Tampa. And my group is doing ours on Gasparilla through the years. And we need pictures of gasparilla old and new, so if you could send me a link to all the old photos that would be great ! thanks.
