directional school

You know I get irritated at the horrible drivers on our roads. We all know these people are not stupid, they just don’t pay attention. But there are some things we can do to make it a bit easier for all of us out there: Use your blinkers.

Dave Rothacker suggests we all start getting in the habit of using turn signals. Based on a story in the Trib’s Behind the Wheel blog, it seems giving other folks a clue as to your intentions may help reduce the number of accidents.

I use my directionals about half the time – which is not nearly enough. I promise to do a better job at letting you know which way I’m going.

Shame, shame, Tommy. But thanks for making an effort – the rest of us appreciate it!

My other biggest gripe are the red-light runners!!!! WAY too much of that going on. You’d think it was legal for 3-5 cars to run every light.

A fine point. Yet I’m not sure turn signals could help fending off the person I overheard today say they couldn’t count how many accidents they just missed because they were text messaging while driving.

Did you know that you are supposed to use your turn signals when changing lanes. This is disregarded everywhere. But only in Florida have I seen people make a full 90 degree turn and not use their signal!

Let me introduce you all to a little concept known around the world as “the fast lane”.
Slower traffic move to the right!!!!
If I get stuck behind one more moron doing 50 in the left lane…
    Arrrrrghhh!!!!

And what is the speed limit when the “morons” are doing 50 in the left lane?

I signal. Every time. Changing lanes, turning or whatever. Crowded road, empty road doesn’t matter it is a habit. If you get in the habit on doing it first, signal that you want to get over before even checking your blind spot, it makes it easier and a more automatic function. I never even think about it, the signal goes on, then I check to see if I am clear and go. I forget to do it maybe every couple of weeks and kick myself every time.
