Tommy thought the entire circus was over. But now he’s on a cruise and missing the news that Debra Lafave’s plea deal was rejected by a Marion County judge today

“Acepting the proposed plea agreement would undermine the credibility of this court, and the criminal justice system as a whole, and would erode public confidence in our schools,” Judge Stancil wrote in the order released Tuesday.

Could this be at all inspired by backlash over the Jennifer Porter ruling?

UPDATE:  And now?  They’ve dropped all charges against Debra!

They’re pretty much separate rulings. Still don’t see how Hillsborough thinks its cool for an adult woman to bang a teenage boy, yet if it was an adult man with a teenage girl they’d hold his execution at the stadium. In other words, there should be no double standard about these things. I think that’s what Marion’s judge is trying to say.

Bama, didn’t they give a guy 75 years for having sex with an under age girl (16) a few years back? I’m trying to find the story but with little luck.

Plenty of guys are in prison for that sort of thing, yet Debra will be confined to watching Oprah at home every day for the next three years. Maybe Oprah can have her on as a guest.
Don’t get me wrong, I “pitched a tent” for my hot blonde English teacher when I was in the 8th grade. I didn’t know any better about that sort of thing at the time, BUT SHE DID!

In both cases (Porter and Lafave) untimatly the victims families accepted the outcomes. Frankly I don’t know that anybody but them is entitled to decide if the ruling is fair.

Yeah something stinks, first the judge rejects the plea deal and then drops the charges. I smell a buy off of some sort.

Anyway you look at it, it is ok for an adult female to have sex with a male underage according to our justice system.

  6. Editengine Says:

The victim’s family asked the prosecutor to drop the charges. The judge doesn’t get to decide that and he indicated he wanted to go to trial.

Totally disagree. There’s a reason it’s “State vs. (defendant)”

Re: Judge dropping the charges–the judge didn’t drop the charges, the State did.
