Now THAT’s the kind of hard-hitting news that’s gonna make everybody want to read TimesLite! Then maybe all those paper boxes won’t still be full at the end of each day.
No lie, I was actually thinking lately about writing an entry saying something good about TimesLite. Best I can come up with is it’s easy to read in the potty. But that’s still good!
Can’t wait to read their expose about “the guy working the lighter for Sticks of Fire.”

  2. pascoboy Says:

Nice that Jay Cridlin paraphrased the comments of SoF posters in his piece.

  3. bamaroller Says:

Paraphrase? Looked more like copy/paste to me!

  4. Cooterrific Says:

So, the news here is that a blogger who sometimes writes for them … stopped writing? Oh, and she agreed to pose for an ass shot for them with her laptop.

    Wow.

Clear a path, please, for the Pulitzer. Or the Bloggies. Or both. But at least one of the two.

I agree, pascoboy, there was a previous post where we were all musing on where she went. And this guy did actually lift our guesses/ideas! What a tool. But, hey, he stole from the best, SoF!
Frankly, I can’t help but think there’s much more to it than that puff piece. So gritty, so in-depth. So maybe he wants to DO her, lol. Rach, negative feedback aside, you are funny as hell, even to a 40+ gal like me. Do return someday.

  6. Rachel* Says:

In Jay’s defense, he didn’t copy and paste from here. I told him about those comments because I thought the parents/computer one was really great.

Give the guy a break - Sticks is always crowing about being a New Media forerunner, influencing traditional media, scooping left and right! Huzzah! Well, the influence has shown itself, so why can’t that just be nice for what it is?

Negative comments about it just make you look like holed-up computer nerds when you could be internet superstars!!

  7. bamaroller Says:

“Internet superstars”? Isn’t that the same thing as “weekend warriors” and “hall of fame bowlers”? Rachel please put more pix of yourself in undies/lingerie online. I’m tired of surfing the usual smut sites. (I read Playboy for the articles, too.)

  8. Rachel* Says:

Well, I think that probably made my point for me. You started this morning with your comment paraphrased in the mainstream media - which means it made an impression beyond its original forum. That’s actually kinda cool. But, then, you ended the day with snide, irrelevant commentary that, honestly, is just sort of a regurgitation of your paraphrased comments, anyway. That’s lame.

Why don’t you put your money where your mouth is and go freelance for the Planet? Jay did a fine job with what he had to work with - admittedly, a girl who doesn’t have a blog.

I got handed a free print copy of tbt downtown on Friday and gotta confess I didn’t really read all of it. But I love it’s attitude. I wondered when I first heard it was going to be a daily tabloid if we could expect something in the style of the New York dailies and it seems like it is. Sure the story is fluff, but it is fun fluff. The tribune and the times may cover the more serious stories and reprint a lot of AP and reuters material but they don’t make fun of nazis on their front page. My point is we complain about the quality of the times and complain that the trib is out of touch, but we now have a daily that is asking for us to freelance for them and we are knocking them instead of stepping up and offering to contribute.

And here I was just getting used to my “holed-up computer nerd” lifestyle.

Jay Cridlin has done right by me. He’s also a pleasure to talk to on the phone. Anyways, I was posting this because I think I saw Rachel in Tampa tonight, but I could be wrong. I didn’t want to stop and stare, but it looked like her.

Nope, I was at Sushi Rock Grill last night. There was a scandalous nagamaki incident.

But at 29% popularity and hopeful sightings, you should always say hello if you think you see me!
