In addition to Dave Rothacker, another writer began his contributions to the Sticks of Fire empire while I was away. Without any further delay, Straight from Smitty’s World, heeeeeeere’s Smitty!
Howdy, Sticks readers. Smitty here, representing downtown and all the wonderful things herein. As one of downtown’s handful of condominium residents NOT living on Harbour Island, I take a keen interest in the development of my neighborhood–everything from transportation and new building projects to recreation and public events. I may not have a backyard for barbecues or a lawn to mow, but I have fruit trees on my porch, a terrific view of the city lights, and a nice short commute. I’m looking forward to meeting new neighbors in this ever-changing ‘hood and telling you fine folks about them.
For some insight into how I feel about all this new construction downtown, there’s a great column in Saturday’s Times about the rules for building downtown, and Sandra Thompson’s hit the nail square on the head.
