squatters prevail
110 years ago…
April 14, 1896 – The Secretary of the Interior attempts to end the land dispute between “squatters” and the Florida Central and Peninsular Railroad that involved the former Fort Brooke property. The government decided against the railroad, saying the recent settlers had a legitimate claim to the land.
