May 2, 1966 – The Columbia Board of Trustees announces that Tampa Tribune reporter John Frasca wins 1966 Pulitzer Prize for local reporting. Frasca earned the award for his tenacity in pursuit of the story over a period of weeks that finally procured the release of Robert Lamar Watson, who had been convicted of robbing a Mulberry supermarket.
