it’ll drive you to…
Newspaper circulation figures were released yesterday. For the tree killers, the news is not good. The St. Pete Times admits circulation is down, but respond with (paraphrasing) “Oh yeah? Well, we suck less than our competitors across the state.”
The Tampa Tribune bled even less than the Times, so perhaps Tribune executives had reason to celebrate.
You gotta hand to Ms. Weaver, though. It takes guts to have TBO publish your booking photo.

they really should track online page views more accurately and give it some type of weight. I never have had a subscription to the paper but I read them obsessivly online. I would bet that many people read the paper on work computers when tv is not possible. Also print journalism will always be able to delve deeper into topics than time and format constrained tv reporting is able to.

Nobody is going to pay big money for a subscription to something they can get online for free. Maybe someday papers can start charging for online content the way TV and radio (which were free back in the day) are doing more nowadays. Seems like papers now give their best stuff away. Times is doing it twice.
(Props to J. Weaver for getting out front of her own story before Asterisk had a chance to lampoon it on their cover.)

I think it was dumb to drive drunk (and some of the TBO comments are even dumber, saying that drunken driving isn’t bad). But it was very smart for Janet to jump ahead of all of this. I feel bad she’s getting such negative publicity, but she did the right thing after making a bad mistake.

Nice to know Janet Weaver knows a story when she becomes one.

weaver thinks drunk driving is a laugh riot. she told ‘editor & publisher’ magazine that she might use her mug shot on an xmas card. she needs to resign for lack of judgement.

What about numbers for TBT alone? I have not been able to see those anywhere.

Resign for attempting a little levity out of her own embarassing situation? Good to see who we can count on to “cast the first stone”! (That guy was Anonymous too.)
Everybody makes mistakes, we’re all mortal humans whether we want to admit it or not. And yes you can get run by the cops for just one drink. Like they used to say on “Hill Street Blues,” let’s be careful out there!

With the Times and Trib stats in a growing market like Tampa Bay, sure makes being online feel good.
