David recently asked you to run for county commission, and determine Hillsborough County’s biggest need.  Transportation was mentioned along with “quality of life” issues such as sidewalks and parks. Education was referenced briefly, too.

The Tribune conducted a poll asking a similar question. For state & local races, education garnered the most responses, while government spending came in second.  Managing growth was third. Transportation is not mentioned.

When asked specifically about growth, a whopping 71% said local governments should restrict growth in Florida.  You would think more local politicians would pay attention.

Local politicians are funded by developers and unfortunately the majority of the public doesn’t really pay attention.

How elitist, Fred. That’s us: the unknowing, unaware, unwashed general public.
