can’t believe we made it

Alright, so it’s not that exciting, but cut me some slack.  After 712 miles, a stop in Savannah, waterbugs the size of my fist, a whiny dog and pointless car to car cellphone conversations with my lovely wife, I am here in sunny Tampa, Florida.  I got to drive through a bunch of really awesome Florida towns like Starke and Lawtey.  The former is having a biker festival, which we got a good first hand glance at on 301, and the latter which some refer to as a ghost town.

Anyways, I’m here in Tampa, exhausted and ready to go discover a whole bunch of things to do in Tampa.  I hear there are like a hundred, or something.  Where will I find the time you ask?  When I wake up next week.

welcome to town, scrape off the love bugs quickly or their little guts dry into a resin like substance that that could function as sealant on the space shuttle.

I’ve never heard anyone refer to Starke as “awesome”. DC must be the worst town ever.

  3. Sandy Says:

No kidding, Brett. Matter of fact, they could have added “Get a ticket while driving through the Starke speed-trap” to the 100 things.

That website lists Sulphur Springs as a ghost town adn shows pictures of Nebraska Ave. I think the several thousands of people living smack in the middle of Tampa might take umbrage to that.

“awesome” was pure snark. in fact, i meant the opposite, just for the record.

You’re crying about 712 miles? That’s how far it is from Sulphur Springs to West Shore. =P

    Welcome to the area!

…and we were just kidding you back, DC. Welcome to snark central. Now off with you for a cuban sandwich and cafe con leche welcome to town.

LOL, that made me remember when I was in college and drove from Beaumont, TX to Baton Rouge, LA five nights a week as a courier for a med lab. LOL, 420 miles a night. Best job I ever had, too bad it wasn’t enough to really live on….unless I moved into a refrigerator box and only ate what crawled by.

  11. Sandy Says:

Holy crap, Addison! I used to do courier work at tax time for extra dough when I was a younger. Back and forth across the Gandy a dozen times a day—but the views and beautiful mornings were worth it, too.

If you are new in the Tampa area and want a good restaurant and not wanting to blow a lot of money, then visit Brasa Grill in the heart of the Town N’ Country area on West Waters Avenue.

It’s a brazilian restaurant with suculent meats served in a metal skewer. They have all you can eat bufet, and the variety is tremendous.

Music videos while you eat, great atmosphere.
Their skirt steak and yellow rice is superb.

Go on Saturdays, and try their yellow rice with shrimp!!! All their meats are tender, juicy and very very tasty. So, good you will want to come back the next day.

They are open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner.
