work stops at tampa hospital
June 22, 1936 – Work stops on the much-needed $200,000 in upgrades at Tampa Municipal Hospital (now Tampa General Hospital) as Tampa mayor R. E. L. Chancey and the federal government attempt to settle a dispute regarding the contract between the city and the Works Progress Administration. The dispute centered on whether federal relief money could be used on existing buildings.
