Coast to Coast convenience stores has installed a biometric payment system at its store on the corner of Florida and Bearss avenues in Tampa. The system, developed by the Pay By Touch company, allows customers to make purchases with a scan of their fingerprint.

You can sign up at the store, or online at BioPay.  They claim to be the first in Florida to use this system.

“Coast to Coast’s unique convenience center concept, located at the corner of Florida and Bearss Avenue, is a great fit for incorporating biometric payments, and we are excited to be the first Tampa retailer to give our customers the convenience and security of paying with the touch of a finger,” said Amer Hawatmeh, president of Coast to Coast. “The system debits a shopper’s checking account just like writing a check or using a debit card, but without having to hassle with wallets, cards, PINs, paper or checks. Because account numbers are not exposed, the technology is helping us provide our customers with faster checkouts and more secure transactions.”

As an introductory offer, customers who enroll to use the BioPay-branded service at Coast to Coast will receive a free car wash with their gas purchase. After the first time, consumers will receive free chips and a fountain drink with a deli meal purchase.

It seems to me that this technology would come in handy at Adventure Island where you have few pockets.  Or better yet, how about Paradise Lakes, Caliente and Lake Como, where there are no pockets!
