tuesday in tampa

What an awesome Tuesday I had! Not only did France beat Spain 3-1 in the World Cup, but I met more super Tampans than I bargained for. And I mean that super *pause* Tampans, not SuperTampans. Unfortunately I have yet to meet anyone who meets the criteria for the latter category.

So I went to the New World Brewery in Ybor City for a Drinking Liberally event, and lo and behold it was Turbodog Tuesday. Drinks were on the cheap, and coincidentally or not, talk was aplenty.

I finally met Bill from Sohotampa.com, who, if only because I have it in writing (somewhere on this blog), still owes me a drink. I met Joe Redner as well, who is running for Hillsborough County Commission District 5. He had some interesting things to say about mass transit, which as far as I can tell is quite the hot topic here on SoF. On top of that, I learned an interesting story from my new friend Wayne about Pearce’s Paradise, which also happens to be the name of his blog.

Could it be that I’m starting to like Tampa? Now I have to actually see a show at New World instead of just drinking there.

Bad news. You may be too late to catch a show at New World. Rumor has it they received their second violation of the Ybor noise ordinance and will not be doing live music events for the forseeable future. Let’s hope something changes.
