Josh Hallett of Hyku is sponsoring an unconference in Orlando.  BlogOrlando is scheduled for Friday, September 22 at Rollins College.  An unconference is a get-together where participants decide the topics and schedule. Therefore, the events listed below are not written in stone, and will basically decided by whoever wants to be involved:

  • Thursday (9/21): Travel day for most, perhaps an informal dinner that night
  • Friday - day (9/22): BlogOrlando un-conference at Rollins College
  • Friday - evening (9/22): Full-on geek dinner somewhere in Orlando
  • Saturday (9/23): Blogger day at one of the Disney parks
  • Sunday (9/24): Travel day, or stay an extra day at the Disney parks

Although that weekend is not the best for me personally, I may try to get there for Friday’s activities.  If other local bloggers - or blog readers! - want to go, leave a comment.  If there is enough interest, perhaps we’ll set up some sort of caravan.

I can’t predict the future just yet as far as my availability, but I’d definitely like to check it out, especially the Friday activities, in the hopes of seeing something like that here in the Bay area.

I am currently planning on attending this conference — and I agree that Tampa might want to try organizing a follow-up in the future.

Tampa Bay seems to be home to more bloggers than Orlando - at least from what I can find online.

Jim: You are right, there are more bloggers in Tampa than Orlando. However with this particular event I was looking to draw not only Florida folks, but people from around the U.S. and Europe. In that regard, Orlando has Disney which is a pretty good draw for out-of-towners. Perhaps we can organize a Tampa event in early ‘07.

Josh: It was obvious that this was not a local or state conference … which is why I thought about a Tampa conference as “a follow-up in the future”. It sounds like it will be interesting, and I am looking forward to it.
