Sorry this is so late:  From the City of Tampa website:

The Hillsborough County School District will hold an Employee Rally on Friday, July 28, 2006, from 9 a.m. to noon. Approximately 18,000 people are set to arrive at the St. Pete Times Forum between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. on Friday. Most of the attendees will be arriving by bus, however some will be carpooling. More than 3,000 cars and 254 buses will come into Downtown for the rally during the morning peak traffic hour.

I’ll paraphrase the rest:

All streets south of Jackson will be busy and likely a mess.

The city recommends using your “flex hours” to get here before 7am if you don’t have reserved parking.

Traffic is really going to suck between 7 and 9am.

There will be no hourly parking available south of Jackson Street after 7 a.m.

If you work in mid to south downtown, I highly recommend you read the entire release.

I don’t know any teachers who are driving to this event. Most of us are being forced on buses at our schools and god help the *sshole who tries to force a singalong.

Did I mention I’m back in town? I know. You’re thrilled.
