August 16, 1926 – The Tampa Morning Tribune reports that 264 cases of “real pre-war” (and thus, pre-Prohibition) alcohol had been found and dumped into the sewers – “now regaling the fish of Hillsborough Bay.” The estimated value of the illicit booze was $25,000 (over $264,000 in today’s dollars).
