no sale
September 7, 1951 – For the second time in two years, Hillsborough County’s 1892 Courthouse failed to attract a buyer when advertised for public sale. County Commissioners promptly announced they would discontinue efforts to dispose of the property by public sale and would seek to sell it in a private transaction authorized by a special act of the legislature. The minimum bid required for purchasing the property was $776,000 ($5.9 million in today’s dollars). Realtor Leslie H. Blank believed the reason the property did not sell was because the commission set the minimum far too high.
