Tonight’s Jefferson Dragons vs. Armwood Hawks High School football game will be broadcast from Seffner, FL to a nationwide audience on ESPNU.  As you might expect, the kids are pumped.

Meanwhile, the Lakeland Dreadnaughts are in Cincinnati, Ohio to play St. Xavier in the Ohio vs. USA tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Go teams!

When the hell did H.S. football become more than just crosstown rivalries? Wait’ll these boys wind up ineligible for college after accepting cash, or the mass teacher revolt when coach makes more than principal. Y’all think education is suffering now? Hey ESPNU: Why not cover more Division II and III football instead?

The funny thing is that I went to Armwood a long time ago and I remember coach Callahan. I also remember the football team was just plain horrible. What changed? A couple of years ago I suddenly realized they were one of the top teams in the state. Are they recruiting players? Did the coaching really improve that much?

+1 for C.W. It can’t be fun to play under that kind of pressure, at least not if your team loses.
