Once again, the City of Tampa was selected as the one of the top local government web sites in the 2006 Best of the Web competition judged by the Center for Digital Government:

Hailed as the nation’s most prestigious and popular government competition, the Best of the Web awards state and local government web sites based on innovation, efficiency, economy and functionality.

Presentations to the winners of the 2006 Best of the Web (BOW) by the Center for Digital Government occurred at the annual awards dinner in Las Vegas, Nevada. The BOW is an annual awards program that recognizes the most innovative, user-friendly state and local government portals. This national awards program judges state, city and county Web sites on their innovation, Web-delivery of public services, efficiency, economy, and functionality for improved citizen access.

“Our 2006 awards showcase the best state and local government Web sites and on-line applications in the nation. These winners set the mark for delivering innovative, efficient and effective government services to all of their many constituencies,” states Center Executive Vice President, Cathilea Robinett. “Congratulations to all winners in each category.”

Here are the top city websites this year:

Seminole County, Florida (http://www.seminolecountyfl.gov/) took 1st place in the county website competition.

Tampagov.net was a finalist in 2001, captured 1st place in ‘02 and 3rd place in ‘05.  Congrats again to the City of Tampa MIS team.
