airstream tour of america

The publisher and editor of Airstream Life magazine and his family are on a Tour of America, and they are using the Tour of America blog to keep you updated.

They pulled the Airstream up to a friend’s house in Tampa in early November, and stayed in the area a few weeks. I’ve grabbed some quotes from them:

“Tarpon Springs is much more lively in April than November, but the food is always great.”

“Ted Peter’s Smoked Fish… is a real relief from the “same old” restaurants.”

“Another characteristic of Florida is the presence of enormous flea markets everywhere.”

“Tampa has some of the worst traffic in the country.”

Another Florida characteristic: “everything is… located in the strip mall… The only thing I have never seen in a Florida strip mall is a cemetary, and it’s probably just a matter of time.”

November and March are super months to be in Florida.

Strip Mall Cemetary? That would be a great band name, no?

Hey Tommy, thanks for the mention. We’re actually bailing out tomorrow (Friday) otherwise I’d suggest a meet-up. But it’s time for us to start heading west. Tampa has been fun, and we’ll be back next year I’m sure!

Great to see new RV blogs coming, and the exchange of both stories of our travels, and helps and hints on RVing will be grand.

Worst traffic? Um, sorry. I’ve lived in Washington DC and our traffic is weak like a kitten compared to the kind of snarl-ups you see on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and the Mixing Bowl.
