Lee Chavis is a name you may have seen in the news recently for alleged sexual contact with a fourteen year old girl. Unfortunately, this sort of thing is no longer that
unusual so I took little notice. Until the other night.
My brother-in-law mentioned that the name sounded familiar and suggested he may have gone to school with a “Lee Chavis.” A quick look at the 1995 Armwood High School yearbook revealed that his memory was accurate. Lee Chavis was a senior at Armwood in Seffner, just a couple of years after I graduated from there. You all know Armwood High. Besides their recent success in football the school is visible from Interstate 4 at exit 10.
It turns out that before Chavis’ recent troubles, and before any of his string of petty arrests he was the Homecoming King at Armwood, according one photo. We also found that he is guilty of a strange attraction to a life sized picture of the King of Pop himself
.
The newspapers have also noted that Chavis is the father of five children with five different women, each of whom has sued him for child support.
Of course, a past of petty crime and questionable music taste does not a pedophile make. And Chavis says he hasn’t touched the girl. Hopefully he will be exonerated of these charges (who wants to think that the child is telling the truth and that she was raped?).
Anyway, we thought these photos might give you a bit more background on the man in the stories.

Hey, SOF talked about how Creative Loafing needs a music critic (http://sticksoffire.com/2006/12/26/music-reviewer-needed/) how bout some news on the CONVICTED PEDOPHILE who was a Creative Loafing Music Critic? http://offender.fdle.state.fl.us/offender/flyer.do?personId=23806
This sleazeball tried to use the tragic suicide of Mike O’Neill (a truly great guy) to rehabilitate himself, and the community of music critics happily aquieces. The Trib’s Gretchen Parker wrote on July 19 2006, citing this monster’s expertise on the local music scene:
Cut and pasted from the trib, 7-19-06
“I couldn’t imagine a greater loss for the local, original music scene in Tampa,” said Robert Mortellaro, a former music critic for The Weekly Planet who more than once named O’Neill “Best of the Bay” for his work. O’Neill’s “raw, great talent as a songwriter” made him a star here, Mortellaro said.”
Because Sticks Of Fire has no African-American contributors, i find your website very distasteful when you needlessly highlight alleged crimes allegedly committed by African Americans.

Rachel Lindhome was in an AOL chat room last year when she received a message from Robert Mortellaro, a 34-year-old Florida resident.
Mortellaro asked if she wanted to see pictures of child pornography, and he recounted having sex with a 10-year-old girl.
“All of a sudden my heart stopped,†said Lindhome, a 27-year-old telemarketer, in a story in the Tampa (Fla.) Tribune.
Lindhome contacted an attorney, and that led to FBI involvement.
Mortellaro sent 70 pictures which included bestiality and sex with infants. Police arrested the man at a Vero Beach mall when he tried to meet a 13-year-old girl from the Internet.
