chuck harmon should be fired
It’s all coming down on Rick Baker. And he doesn’t want to talk about it. Well, Rick, you better do something.
By giving the ok to go with the boxcutter plan, St. Pete police chief Chuck Harmon was not just removing unsafe housing. The tent-slashing destroyed personal property, violated rights, made his police staff look like animals, made city leaders look like imbeciles, and embarassed the entire bay area.
Baker, if you care about the city as much as you say you do, get the guy out of there. Today.

I don’t believe Rick Baker knew nothing.
Does anyone?
If he fires Chuck Harmon (though I agree wholeheartedly with you) then Harmon will just get another job somewhere in the city; maybe in a more harmful position.
So, in calling for someone’s head I think it should be stated that either one of them are no longer employable in the municipality …..
And THEN, he’ll just go to work for some private security company which are being given expanding powers and think of the damage he can then do.
He should not be in a position of public trust.
Neither of them. Or the fire chief who was there. Or the fine spokeswoman who planned same(supposedly)
Harsh?
Well, they’ve spent a long time being harsh on others.
Including creating the very situation that they took their boxcutters out on.
Same as here in Tampa under Mayor Pam. Since the year she took office the homeless population has increased by 26% http://tampasbackdoor.blogspot.com/2007/01/amor-vincit-omnia.html(next the TT will have some refuting of this)
Nonetheless, Hillsborough County boasts the SIXTH LARGEST homeless population in this Bush-league nation.
What’s that say about us?
We all have front porches. I say all the people in South Tampa and everywhere else in the city with big front porches let two to four homeless people sleep there every night and then DEMAND the city do what’s right because it would be hard to deny with em right on your doorstep.
As well, over in Pinellas his mayor-ness, Ricky Baker is ALREADY making noise (brass ‘nads) about ‘reclaiming’ williams park from the homeless. http://www.sptimes.com/2007/01/27/Tampabay/Park_to_test_wills__g.shtmlSo, whatever it takes. Off to jail with them or whatever it takes to improve the view for other humans of equal rights (haha)
The reporter interviewed a bunch of neo-cons who claimed the same things that Rachel* does. Then a bunch of the mayors’ winged monkeys got online and tried to sway public opinion. haha. How tough is that? The editor of online comments only puts the ‘yay mayor baker’ stuff there! How is it that I walk all these same places and my experiences are SO different than the ones of those who make the MSM? I’ve never even been approached by a homeless person and I have approached them on many occasions … so it’s not like I’m making a wide berth.I don’t identify the place that stinks from public relieving of oneself as quoted in the st pete times article attempting to reclaim williams park. As well, it makes NO sense because Williams Park has public restrooms so why would someone walk up the street to use the facilities? Perhaps this is a leaky something from the smell down at the city hall which is VERY close by to Williams Park.
Thanks, Tommy, for giving us a place to really state a real opinion that gets read.
After my call for an apology from Mayor Baker he DID do so (ya get what ya get kinda way) but now his next move is to get rid of homeless altogether. Ya gotta wonder ….. and feel sorry for the butterflies in his neighborhood…..
My take on this? From what I know with my ear to the ground on this smarmy new bunch they bring the homeless and the quasi-homeless to run down property values … then they pick up all the property el cheapo mundo and then when they have their mitts on most of it ….OUST THE HOMELESS. Usin’ em like chess pieces.
I agree with Kate.
OUST IORIO.
RECALL BAKER.
Come bail me out when they label me an ‘enemy combatant’ and won’t bring me before a judge because we don’t have ‘habeus corpus’ anymore.
And it’s only Monday ….

a couple of years ago a car ran into my vehicle parked in front of my house in st. pete. the driver was drunk so while all the officers were doing their invesatigation i was talking with one of the senior officers and somehow the conversation turned to chief harmon. i told the officer i had had some dealings with him and that my personal opinion of him was that he was an asshole. the officer just laughed and said you dont know the half of it. for example one night he was on a call in south st. pete and things were getting a little rowdy and harmon shows up as a supervising sargent and ends up proclaiming loudly “these people are all animals and should be put in cages”. the officer found his attitude revolting especially in light of how he had his nose up goliath davis’ ass alll the time. this guy should no more be police chief than Dick baker should be mayor.
