incumbent to miss forum

We were hoping that the full slate of candidates would show up for SoHoTampa.com’s district 4 candidate forum this morning. Unfortunately, John Dingfelder will not be able to make it:

Confirming our conversation, I will be unable to attend Tuesday morning’s forum as I have a City Council conflict. Specifically, Council had scheduled a public workshop several weeks ago to address proposed changes to the ARC ordinance, an important issue to my district and especially to Historic Hyde Park residents. The workshop is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM on Tuesday.

I commend your efforts on this innovative approach to informing voters and wish you well. I trust that you will read this statement to your viewers so that they fully understand why I was unable to attend.

Thanks and regards,

John Dingfelder
Tampa City Councilman - District 4

The forum will go on without Mr. Dingfelder. Watch the Showdown in Soho live at 10am thanks to Tampa Digital Studios.

Dingfelder will NOT be re-elected. I guarantee it!

Why would ’someone’ schedule a FORUM OF CANDIDATES during a time when the INCUMBENT CANDIDATE is unable to attend? hmmmm

Seems easier to re-schedule a forum than to
    reschedule a city council meeting/workshop.

So, in essence, it’s NOT a forum if you won’t reschedule it. What it IS, is a meeting of the other candidates.

    Now tainted with bias.

By virtue of the fact that it was scheduled when he was unable to attend — says alot about this.

    Just sayin …………… the ‘forum’
should be rescheduled. IF he DID go you
same people would be trumpeting that he
’shirked his duties’ by doing so…. the smart people catch on too fast, don’t they??
    he he.

Makes no difference to me, I had no intention of listening to a bunch of talking heads. I’m sure that no one will ask Julie Brown how the investigation into her alleged illegal campaign finance is coming along, eh?http://tampasbackdoor.blogspot.com/2007/02/julie-brown-being-investigated-for-kuhn.html

The forum has now been posted at http://www.tampagold.com and http://www.sohotampa.com.

Tp voxpopuli: The meeting Mr Dingfelder attended was billed as a Workshop, not a Council Meeting. And since we have been accused of being biased in favor of Mr. Dingfelder and now we have your comments, I guess it is a sign we are balanced. Thanks for paying attention. Why not see and hear the Forum and then make a decision ?

Hard to make a decision when one of the main candidates is missing. Although I will say that nothing is as bad as Nevada Dems holding a primary debate on Faux News.

  5. voxpop Says:

dCdave We’re trying to stop that ! Please help if you haven’t already: The full text of the petition is: “Fox is a mouthpiece for the Republican Party, not a legitimate news channel. The Democratic Party of Nevada should drop Fox as its partner for the presidential primary debate.”

Mr. Bill — with all due respect and thank you so much for your reply !! — if I have a chance I’ll watch the show. But, it’s not balanced if there is any bias, whatsover (as you know). This is the beginning/middle of a problem. Since MSM is NOT covering these events properly if you or I decide to host an event of candidates then it is our responsibility to be sure to be as unbiased as possible (even if we despise the candidate we must be fair …) or we’re no better than the Tampa Tribune. That could leave one or two people with some capability doing all the ‘election’-eering and shutting ’some’ out. That’s already done with money and my goal would be to establish fair and accurate reporting/debate. I like to have fun, too but then these yahoos get into office and start f’ing people over.
I would LOVE to see the same done with ALL THREE mayoral candidates. Speaking of which, why was this particular district singled out as important enough for a ‘forum’? Just curious. There are other districts including the city-wide one. Sorry it took a few days getting back here; I’ve been busy being f’d with by the gangs of Hillsborough County. hehe. Some of whom are currently holding public office and very high paying jobs in the city and county. No surprise there, eh?
