• (Actually, I Prefer the Truman Doctrine) USF has offered the basketball head coaching job to Winthrop’s Gregg Marshall, who is mulling the offer. Under Marshall, Winthrop has made 7 of the last 9 tournaments and has one of the more productive offenses around. The Tribune’s Bulls Blog broaches the question, are you for the Marshall plan?

• (Where is the Tampa Bay Thunder Option?) Devil Rays Universe has a survey which asks, among other things, what the DRays nickname should be? I have more than a few suggestions for DRays Universe including Jesus Rays and Dianetics. (HT to Gnorb)

• (I’ve Got Your Bolts News Right Here) I have been mocked for not paying enough attention to the local hockey collective, so hopefully this meets my Bolts quote for the week. The Lightning have ended their three year affiliation with the AHL’s Springfield Falcons, citing a need to “find some goal scorers“.
