Tom has a handful of blogs over in Pinellas County. Check out Penny for Pinellas, Bartlett Park, and New Southside.

He also left a comment on the HCBOCC sneak-vote killing your wishes. Tom points out that the TBBA is positively bubbling that they were able to snow the commissioners. I’ve emboldened where I felt like it:

We were successful in turning back an aggressive and overly ambitious update to the Hillsborough Comprehensive Plan. Adoption of the Plan in the form proposed by the Planning Commission staff would have shut down the building industry and severely hampered any economic growth. Under the masterful direction and guidance of Judy James and Dan Molloy, the TBBA developed a strategy and lobbied heavily to convince the County Commission that many of the proposals were absurd and that more scrutiny was needed. The BOCC completely eliminated the “tier” approach to land use densities and deleted the “Livable Communities” section of the Plan. The balance of the Plan was referred to the County’s Planning and Growth Management (P&GM) Department for cost analysis and a condensing of the 1,500 page document. Special thanks to Board members who attended the workshops and many others who worked hard on research.

Clear victories in the world of governmental affairs do not happen often. Great work everyone!!

I tell ya, I’m pissed. If you have not done it yet, contact the BOCC now. I’ve gotten an email response from the two who voted against the measure. I’ll have more on that (and the other five chickenshits) next week.

Unless you want them to keep ignoring you, and have the TBBA call your ideas “absurd.”
