broadway icehouse set to blow
I read this somewhere - I think it may have been in Cigar City Mafia by Scott Deitche.
- March 27, 1957: A fire breaks out at Broadway Icehouse. 141 sticks of dynamite are found in the walls and attic. They were wired to go off when a) a train passed a nearby switch or b) the ice machine turned on or c) neither.
I thought it was an interesting note. Unfortunately, I could find nothing online to confirm the story.
By the way, Scott is releasing a new book in the next couple weeks: The Silent Don: The Criminal Underworld of Santo Trafficante Jr.

I’m pretty sure that’s where I read it, Tommy. And I’ll be picking up his new one as soon as it’s out.
