Hateful Bigots

It’s official, Steve Stanton has been fired. Once again, the Largo City Commissioners have taken it upon themselves to expose their naked intolerance and shameful hatred of anything different than their own wholesome, wonderbread selves. These myopic, ignorant and shameful people are embarrassing their city and their state with this awful pageant of loathing.

Here are a couple of quotes of the bigots who voted against Steve Stanton from the St. Pete Times:

“I will tell you it is not about transgenderism,” said Commissioner Gay Gentry. “It is about making sure that the 1,000 people who work in the city, work in such a way that they can give superior services for the 75,000 people who live in this city. I tried to vote the right way for the right reasons.”

Commissioner Andy Guyette said honesty, integrity and trust were the foundations of their relationship with him and that “without trust, there is no longer a foundation to any relationship.”

All I really get from these smarmy, repugnant pols is that they can’t trust transgendered people and after being as blatantly bigoted as they were, they don’t even have the courage or the honesty to admit the real reasons they fired Steve Stanton.

They fired Steve Stanton because he’s different, because he scares them, because they are ignorant assholes who hate everything that doesn’t fit into their hypocritical and inflexible belief systems.

Stanton had so much support from all over FL at City Hall last Friday night. But there were plenty of Largo residents there supporting him, too. I find it hard to believe that the commisioners weren’t there representing their own interests and fears. So who’s going to can them for that? Has anyone in Largo, or any where else, learned that discrimination (on the basis on anything) is still rampant - and apparently - acceptable?

    well said, dcdave.

It’s kinda funny that 3/4 women who voted to fire Stanton have a lesbian haircuts. The other one is Gay.

    LoL Jacob.

When I looked at the image I said to myself, ‘Wow, the faces of evil looks like they could all be my freind’s mothers.’ (even the dude, I suppose)

They fired him for being dishonest but they were dishonest about the real reason for the firing. By their standard the commissioners should resign. The city commission disgraced their city.
The city union gave legitimate reasons to fire the manager.
I am also troubled by the fact that he did not tell his son about his plans. But he did start to tell his elected city commissioners.

My only misgiving about how Largo city commissioners ousted city manager Steve Stanton is – did they do enough to warn other people that this community will not tolerate tolerance? Sure, commissioners showed that they can cravenly discard a person of considerable professional competence and personal bravery. But if destruction of one’s livelihood and personal ostracism are all that people like Mr. Stanton need fear, what’s to dissuade other people from speaking their minds and hearts and, worst of all, doing things that are perfectly legal but not condoned by a handful of bigoted morons? Indeed, I propose we deal much more harshly with Mr. Stanton, say, by forcing him to listen to recordings of all the tedious and stupid statements made daily by Largo city commissioners. Let’s make sure that his fate will be a warning to all other American citizens that if they want to be free to pursue life, liberty and happiness, they better move to some other country. Like France. Or Iraq.

Aw, c’mon. Largo may not like transgenders but they seem to have an open-door policy on lesbians. I mean, look at that photo of Arntzen. Just sayin’…

Suppose I should cancel construction on the BDSM B&B I had planned for Largo…

“3/4 women who voted to fire Stanton have a lesbian haircuts…” Man, you guys must know some messed up lesbians (or not…) Nobody I know has hair like that. Gawdawful!
