Writer Louis Artalona was born in Monessen, PA. He spent time in the speakeasies and gambling joints there. In 1982, he relocated to Plant City.

His book, Comeuppance, features a guy who grew up in Monessen, PA, working at a gambling hall, and got involved with the mob. The character moves to Tampa as part of a plan to exact revenge.

If you like to read fictional accounts that take place in Tampa (or Monessen), you may want to have a read of Comeuppance. The story is a fairly typical “revenge” plot, but the well-written novel includes plenty of familiar landmarks and references for you.
