This has been in the news lately. Dog bites are too many. The county says that 75% of bites are from unfixed dogs, and snipping all dogs will reduce the number of attacks. Makes sense to me.

So they want to charge dog owners $150 a year if your critter is not fixed. That would encourage folks to get the mongrel spayed or neutered (you can find a spay-neuter provider for about $95). Makes sense to me.

Of course, dog breeders have a small problem with it. They need dogs to be virile if they prefer to stay in business. So the county decided to wait, and added a couple of breeders to the task force. Apparently that task force is meeting next week. From the county:

Animal Advisory Subcommittee on Dog Bite Prevention Will Meet

The Dog Bite Prevention Subcommittee of the Hillsborough County Animal Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet Monday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Animal Services, 440 Falkenburg Road in Tampa.

The subcommittee will discuss and consider options that may help prevent dog bites. The public is invited to attend but are asked not to bring their animals to the meeting.

Are you kidding me?

This meeting will not accomplish anything. The futile effort is unlikely to answer any questions, especially the main question: Why on earth is there a “Dog Bite Prevention Subcommittee” of the “Hillsborough County Animal Advisory Committee.”

Hey Geniuses: Go ahead with your plan, but charge breeders, say, $400 for an annual breeding license, exempt them from the rules, and fine them more heavily if their dogs bite someone. Why do they make everything so freakin’ difficult?

Hwo do they expect to go about getting people to pay 150 bucks if their animal is not “fixed”? I think it may lead to more unregistered dogs with the county.

“I’m not pay 25 bucks a year for a license and 150 more cuz I didn’t get Sparky fixed. Screw’em.”

How about letting the market bear the dog bite problem and leaving laws out of it? Jesus! If I get bit by a dog, I’ll sue the hell out of the dog owner and that’s that.

Hey Tommy are you kidding me? Why is there a Dog Bite Subcommitte? Ah maybe because Mr. Armstrong has come up with yet another bright idea in the form of an ordinance. It won’t correct the problem but it will cost the taxpayers even more money for animal services. It will produce about as much results as his last bright idea. Maybe the citizens are wise to Mr. Armstrong and wish to implement changes that will actually help solve the problem not waste money.

I mean really did you read the ASCPA’s Mission Orange Report? The budget has doubled yet population, adopted, impounded, redeemed, increases are not proportionate to the increase in budget. I mean really! If Mr. Armstrong at a annual salary of $123,000 can’t manage taxpayers dollars wisely why should responsible breeders have to pay for his mistakes. We didn’t hire him. In fact genius why aren’t you talking about that…or perhaps you just don’t know What your talking about.

Hey but the jokes on the citizens anyway because regardless of whether they pass his law Everyone agrees he needs more MONEY! I think we need a new manager!
