Quinn was on guard duty at a checkpoint in Al-Fallujah, Iraq when a vehicle pulled up and assailants fired on him. Quinn was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armor Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Michael B. Quinn grew up on a ranch and helped raise sheep in high school.

He was killed May 27 when Iraqis opened fire at a checkpoint in Fallujah.

“He would put his heart and soul into whatever he was doing,” said his mother, Sally Quinn Taylor. “He’s going to be sorely missed by his wife, son and mother.”

Quinn leaves behind a wife, Melissa Palmer Quinn, and a son, Tim. They live in the Colorado Springs area.
