smoker’s cages
You might remember when the airport included places for people to smoke their cigarettes inside the terminals. The glass enclosures were filled with nervous flyers getting the last puff before heading to Peoria, or wherever. Wasn’t nearly enough air flow in there, and the place was just nasty. To get an idea of what it was like, just step outside today.

I remember smoking before a New Orleans flight with a group of nervous friends flying for the first time. It was like smoking in a mason jar.

Still smells a whole lot better than the smokers cages. Takes me back to my forest ranger days.

First time I’ve encountered this. It doesn’t smell all that bad…kind of like camping. Does this happen a lot down here?

“Does this happen a lot down here?” Now and then. Here’s the URL of a biggish (1280×1024) jpeg from 20 April showing GA smoke wafting our way.

Least we aren’t in California. They get the big burns out west that we don’t really see. Every year we get fires but rarely so close or with the right winds to do something like this. Also they aren’t as big as the ones out west so we don’t see the annual war on forest fires that the western states fight.
