Tags: tampaScott Dougherty enlisted in the Marines in 2002 after graduating from high school. He was just two days out of combat training when he was deployed to Iraq for five months.
He returned for a second tour of duty three months ago, his father said.
“He died doing what he loved doing. If I could have been there beside him, I would have been,” Keith Dougherty said. “He was proud of what he was doing. This is what he wanted to do with his life. This was his dream.”
