heading to nashville
This week, the musical group of which I have been assured that I am an “integral” part of is heading north to Music City, USA.
We will be busy all day Friday and then Saturday night, but will have Sunday to be a tourist. What’s the one thing I don’t want to miss? And please don’t suggest I check out their recently completed commuter rail project.

Make sure you eat at Monell’s. It’s a family style restaurant in a converted house. You sit around a big dining room table and pass the mashed potatoes and gravy to strangers. Pretty soon, you wind up meeting whomever is at your table. Great experience.

Check out The Parthenon.

gimme a call. 615-385-9876. Greg (my fellow Saints fan pal) hipped me to ya… I’m a LA musician in Nashvegas… I’m a harp player…
Country Music Hall of Fame is cool. I work in Centennial Park by the Parthanon and can recommend that. Musicians Hall of Fame is down the street from CMHOF. Do Lower Broad and check out the honkytonks. They’ll all have great pickers.
Eat at Monell’s is a good choice. Demos’s is also good. Cheap too…
Might also try Swett’s; one of the great soul food joints in America.
Sat. day if you come into the Parthanon, eat at Hog Heaven. White BarBQ sauce on chicken or turkey is toooo much!!! The joint is on the side of the park.
Nashville really is Music City; not Country Music City…

Monell’s rocks, but my fav’s in NashVegas are The West End Cooker, Houstons, Elliston Place Soda Shop and Calypso Cafe. Oh, and Mrs. Winner’s for the best fried chicken and sweet tea in the south.
There’s also a really kewl restaurant downtown that’s only open for lunch called “Satsuma.” Have Fun.

Thanks, Bayou! Tommy, Bayou is a fellow (to you, not me) musician from Louisiana. Well, he already said that, but, anyway, this means the best of all worlds when it comes to ensuring that you have a good time up there!
Here he is with the the Catahoula Brass Band at Nashville’s Tomato Festival (on the metal sheet thingy - forgive the technical term
giving them some Louisiana music lovin’!

We had a great time!! We stayed at the Loew’s and walked to the Parthenon and Centennial Park, had one of the ten best cheeseburgers ever (according to Jimmy Buffett) at Rotier’s and even got the chance to check out the Elliston Place Soda Shop. The Country Music Hall of Fame was cool, and we drove ’round Music Row.
The rest of the time was spent on Lower Broadway (yes, Tootsie’s, Robert’s Western World, etc.) and Sunday we were out at Opryland.
I’ll try to put together a post about all the big fun….
